The Dutch Panflute Association |
|
In 1981 the Dutch Panflute Association was founded by 17 teachers. The main goal of the association was, and still is, to stimulate interest in, playing skills on, and expertise about the panflute. In 1987 great effort was rewarded by the introduction of a study with main subject panflute at the conservatory of Hilversum. However, in 1998 after fusion of the conservatories of Hilversum and Amsterdam, Panflute was discontinued. Today many good panflute teachers, builders and players practise in the Netherlands and a lot of sheet music for panflute is available. The Dutch Panflute Association has organised many workshops in the past, e.g. on improvisation, blues, Irish music, classical music, Klezmer music, Romanian gipsy music, South-American music, and stage anxiety have been organised. Also masterclasses by Gheorghe Zamfir and by Simeon Stanciu, and panflute concourses were arranged. The yearly organisation of ensemble playing days offers pupils from all over the country an opportunity to play together. The panflute teachers contact day offers both panflute teachers and the association the opportunity to exchange information interactively. Today the Dutch Panflute Association has over 150 members. The Panflute Magazine, the official magazine of the Dutch Panflute Association, is quaterly distributed among the members. |
